Dragon Ball: Super Episode #2 Review [New in Sub]

So how’s Dragon Ball Super working out for all you Dragon Ball and Dragonball Z fans? It’s good to see the show is taking a slow approach as the Dragon Ball franchise has been off air(TV) for over eighteen years now. Still, we get a sense of what’s to come in episode 2, so let’s recap on what we saw last week. Here is a summary of dragon ball super episode 2

Last week on Dragon Ball Super

Goku is happily working as a radish farmer once again and the show spent most of last week establishing the world as normal before whatever Big Bad comes along. Goten and Trunks are getting up to their fun childlike shenanigans, and we’re only given a brief glimpse of the series primary villain, Lord Beerus, accepting food donations from entire civilizations, and if he likes the taste, only destroying half of their planet. Sounds fair…Right!?

Goku’s training – Does he need more?

In case you missed my last Review, you can find it right HERE! Goku was rewarded an obscene amount of money by Mr Satan at the end of the last episode, Goku travels across the galaxy to train with King Kai once more. It’s a little confusing as to what Goku seeks to achieve in more training, as he’s already one of the world’s most powerful beings, though perhaps this plot point is to put him somewhere other than Earth when stuff starts going down later on in the series!

Vegeta’s vacation – Bit of R&R

So we’re finally seeing where Vegeta is at in this new series, while Goku is across the galaxy training, Vegeta is… on vacation. With His first opponent of the series being an Octopus, as Bulma tries to get him off the roof of her ship. Seeing him firmly stand atop the airship while Bulma attempts to maneuver him off balance was a great introduction. He’s not phased of course, aside from a rather hilarious octopus stuck to his face. He still isn’t winning any “world’s best dad” awards, what with taking trunks on a resort vacation as a reward for being able to hit him once. He is still obsessed over how Goku is more powerful than he is, so much that he can’t focus on his vacation entertainment! He soon heads back to training, so let’s get ready for the Vegeta and Goku clash in the future.

Lord Beerus’ dream – The hunt for A Super-Saiyan God

Lord Beerus is fast becoming the main source of mystery in Dragon Ball Super. He’s so far still a pretty straight forward character, with him and his attendant Whis searching the universe for new things to eat. He wiped out an entire race of cool multi-eyed caveman aliens and I felt it was a great way to build audience animosity. Beerus also destroys a planet simply because he’d lost his appetite.

His dream about the Super- Saiyan God is interesting, so far the dream has been plaguing him and it’s great to see a cosmic villain like him get bothered by curiously Saiyan-shaped visions. He’s unable to recall exactly who is in the visions, though most people assume it will be Goku, I have other opinions. Dragon Ball Super is clearly building up to something HUGE!
